[Stiggers] Butt Whippings for This?

Mr. Announcement: "On this Black History episode of All God's Churn Got Shoes, Mr. Teacher makes his History and Ghetto Science class think."

Mr. Teacher: "Before I end class, I have a writing assignment for you. I want you all to write a 500-word essay about a significant individual in black history."

Male Student: "Awwwww, Mr. Teacher! You're making us think too much!"

Mr. Teacher: "Poor students need to think more because they must compete against affluent students who have a greater advantage."

Female Student: "All I have to do is to Google Dr. Martin Luther King and his 'I Have a Dream' speech. And I'm done!"

Male Student: "That's right! The 'I Have a Dream' speech worked for me in high school—an easy 'A' in social studies."

Mr. Teacher: "If Dr. King heard you all, he would fuss at you all as he did in that Boondocks cartoon and say, 'This is what I got all of those butt whippings for?' Black history is more than just Googling an MLK speech. What you should do is Google Dr. Benjamin E. Mays (Dr. King's mentor) and write an essay about him. Dr. Mays' famous quote is 'Not failure, but low aim is a sin.'"

Male Student: "So what is your point, Mr. Teacher?"

Mr. Teacher: "If you study black history, members of certain college fraternities will stop mocking your culture and wearing Aunt Jemima outfits."

Mr. Teacher, they weren't mocking our culture, they wanted to be us. You don't see us mocking them do you? It's boring and deadly for those fraternity members and girlfriends to abuse so many designer drugs, crstal meth, powder cocaine and so on and still be able to dance and have fun listening to country music and acid rock. That was simply a commodification of black culture and jealousy. However, because we have a "yearning for learning", we'll study and learn more about the late, great president of Morehouse college anyway.
