[Fly] The House That Maggie Built

Almost anyone can construct a graham cracker holiday home and load it with sugary frosting and candies. But if you're feeling a bit more adventurous this year, try making a gingerbread house from (almost) scratch. The preparation and construction takes a couple of hours, but when your friends and family members are salivating over the finished product, you'll be overwhelmed with pride—and hunger!

MATERIALS
• 4 packs of Nestle Toll House Pre-cut gingerbread cookies
• Large can of whipped white frosting
• One tube of red/green decorating frosting
• Bags of desired candy
• Rolling pin
• Bottle of red and green sprinkles
• Marshmallow Crème

1. Remove gingerbread dough from each package and place on a cutting board or flat surface. Roll it into a ball. Using the rolling pin, flatten the dough to about 1/4 inch.

2. Cut dough into 6 rectangular pieces and two triangular pieces, keeping in mind the height and width you want your house to be. Bake for two to three minutes longer than the recommended time on the package to ensure your bread is crisp and sturdy for construction.

3. Once baked, remove the pieces from the oven and let them cool on a rack or flat surface. If you have leftover dough, bake cookies for later.

4. Using the marshmallow crème, "glue" each wall together. Add the triangular pieces atop the front and back sides of the house, then glue the remaining rectangular pieces on top of them to create the roof. Garnish as desired with frostings and candies.

5. Grab a cup of eggnog and some of the leftover cookie dough, sit back and marvel at your beautiful home.

I know. Isn't it adorable? You should see the JFP offices this month. It's like one big Santa's workshop.

Cool! I would run by there, but I don't think I will get a chance since my sister and her husband need help with the new baby. My mother, other sister and I have been taking turns going over there to help since my brother-in-law has to work at night and stuff.
