All, after receiving an expletive-filled e-mail from one of our bloggers last week, we have determined that he did not send it. Once again, one of our small group of JFP-haters is stupidly playing games, pretending they are someone else to try to, well, be stupid. And stupid he is—in part of this particular game, he is using a screen name he used years back on this site, which indicates that it's the same person. If you get an odd e-mail, or see something posted on a blog that indicates that the stalker(s) is up to no good, please forward all the information, including IP headers where possible, to us here. We're collecting it all to hand over to the authorities; I believe our harassers will find that this kind of thing is taken more seriously than they might think.

Meantime, angry boys, we're not going away. Give it up, or at least keep the trash on your own Web site where it belongs.

Yep, and the good news (for us, at least) is that it's the same losers over and over again. There are no surprises here. I feel sorry for them, though. One must have a really small life, mind or other necessity to spend time pretending they are someone else online to annoy people they don't agree with. Send huge amounts of compassion their way.

I like Hampton, too. Don't respect a lot of his work lately, I'm sorry to say. The column about why they endorsed Bush and Melton is just still stuck in my craw. And where was he when Melton was lying to the judge in Meridian? In the dark? Oh, and he's the one who told us we couldn't respond to Newhouse's open letter implying that members of MIPA committed vandalism on a Ledge employee -- because, ahem, it wasn't reported. Of course, they haven't reported a damn thing about controversy around TDN. Ombudsman, folks, ombudsman. Sorry, I digressed. I do wonder how they're going to deal with folks using their outside and oh-so-sophisticated Blogger system to send obscene messages to their competitors. That's an interesting problem for them, I'd guess.

Two reasons: Because I want y'all to know how low certain people will stoop in their hatred of people with different opinions (and many of you will have a strong sense of what camp this is coming from, and has now for about three years). Secondly, should any of you get this kind of fake "forward," you should know that it's not coming from who it says it's coming from. These same people (and, believe me, it's a miniscule contingent) have long tried to launch these petty attacks against the JFP, me, Knol, Kate, Tom, more recently Pike—regular JFP bloggers who they can't stand because we have different opinions from theirs. They've done it in different cyber-forms from posting fake Web sites to flooding our petition against Edgar Ray Killen with nasty and homophobic epithets. They post similar stuff on other Web sites, some which they are directly involved in, some in which they're not. Some have posted really personal stuff on the Internet about me and others around me. I am rather flattered by the attention, and I realized long ago that they could only help the JFP by driving a few people here curious about what we're doing that is so awful. And they have alienated so many people around town with their tactics that I don't need to lift a finger to do anything about it. We've even had conservative advertisers sign on because they say that if we anger people like that so much that we must be creating a real buzz. And if they think that I haven't dealt with a handful of wingnuts (and nutballs) in my business, and am somehow going to be deterred from my work due to such pettiness, they are sadly naive. Truly, more than anything, I feel sorry for this little cadre of folks. Word is that their obsession with the JFP has even affected some of their family lives. And that's truly, truly tragic. I won't post any more of the, however, because there is no need to feed their hunger for attention. However, I did think it was useful to alert y'all to their latest brilliant scheme to put the JFP out of business. (smile)

As for our po witta stalka, such insults are such a sign of desperation—I think it's fascinating how many folks think women are destroyed when they go after your body parts. It's an age-old misogynistic trick that Dickesses use on other women as well. But my self-esteem is strong—and I'm not insulted by such things. I am not perfect, nor need I be in order to be happy and do my job in the world and love others. As for my butt, I'm fine with it. And frankly there are just as many folks out there who like juicier butts as those who like tiny, flat ones. You know what Jill Conner Browne says (generalizing, of course): White men like big tits; black men like big butts. Thus, our SPQ costumes have huge boobs and butts, hitting all the bases. ;-D

I guess by that standard, I must have mixed ancestry. ;o) In all seriousness, I really do think women of all body types are beautiful--it's not even something I have to "work at"; I've gotten insane crushes on women who weigh more than I do, and women who weigh half as much--so I just don't get this, except that we live in a culture where women are already beaten up for their looks (whatever their looks are) just for, you know, breathing. Every man with a room-temperature IQ should have a well-worn copy of Naomi Wolf's The Beauty Myth on his dresser, because we're being had, gentlemen, and if you don't want a bunch of old white guys with cigars to decide when you should get an erection, some rigorous self-analysis and mind-expansion is in order. The black men I know like it ALL. If looking at women's behinds and fronts were a degreed task or undertaking I and my friends would have all obtained doctorates while still in undergraduate school. I've never gotten a good look at Ms. Ladd but I can tell she's fine by the way she writes and reasons. The mind is an extension of the rest of the woman. I saw her once at one of the ACLU's crime fighting meeting wearing white pants and a black top. If said to my self I were single, ten years younger, and still remembered how to fight, I would get in that long line of men hopeful that that other man would mess up and open the door.
