Wanted to remind everyone about Arts in the Park that will take place on Saturday, July 22nd at Smith Park. We are going to have fun for kids, courtesy of Partytime Events, concession-style food available for purchasing from Groceries on the Go, entertainment provided by Shadow Play Entertainment and others, spoken word by C. A. Webb, Sewl and regional poets, and artwork on display by over 15 artists from Mississippi and Georgia. The silent auction will take place at 4:30p.m., with all proceeds benefiting Building Bridges Inc.

Another highlight of the day will be testimonials from those who are actually living with HIV. Client Advocate Thomascene Washington, who has been HIV+ for over 12 years, will be one of the guest speakers. Look for an interview with Ms. Washington to appear in my weekly column ONE ON ONE in the Weekend Section of the Clarion Ledger this Thursday.

This was an awesome event---- and it being the first let's us know it will only get better. Latasha, believe I understand. There was alot going on in Jackson today--- and I am glad that people had the problem of having alot to choose from.That was a good sign. I got your text, so believe me I understand. Don't forget to listen to the interview on Monday on 103.7 FM. We are going to be discussing some exciting aspects to the upcoming awards show--- and yes, there are vegetarian choice for the menu (smile). Can't wait to share more with you.

Tom, you are so right. One of the things we said at the Building Bridges event is that it is so good to see people pull together for a cause---- and do so without incident. There is so much to be proud of about Jackson and our state. It is counter-productive in my opinion to focus solely on the negative. There are people making a difference from all walks of life. And that is the important thing.
