Donna, I heard that City Hall has gone through some major changes. Is anyone familiar with the chain-of-command now? What is the role of Carolyn Redd, FM's sister-in-law. Also, I saw Goldia Reeves(sp) on television last week giving information on the status of Mrs. Johnson's house rebuilding plans. Stephanie Parker Weaver and company had roles similar to that of social workers a few weeks back. What exactly do they do? I am also curious about the lobbying position with Marcus. Where are we in terms of funds raised for the City?

Donna and Todd, I enjoyed your segment with Charles Evers tonight. It was the first time I have heard the two of you together, and it was a great opportunity for the publisher and editor of one of the publications that would be affected by the new distribution system to get there message out to a "wide-ranging" audience (smile). One thing that really stuck out to me is that alot of this has to do with the way you choose to run your business. It is one thing to have great ideas to improve your own product, but when it comes at the costs of so many others---- you have to wonder where the good of your customer comes in. When Todd laid out the dollar amount that it would cost these free publications for each location---- it really made it clear to me why so many are unhappy about what is being proposed.

Thanks, C.A. I love doing Mr. Evers' show, and I always like doing radio with Todd. We haven't done it together in a while. We would do our own radio show somewhere if we had time. But, alas. And I suspect Piggly Wiggly/Meadowbrook will get at least one call as a result. I hope people are nice about it. ;-) That is certainly one of the spots we're most concerned about, because it's such a great spot for us.

Good show tonight. I really do hope this gets more exposure in the community and around the country as to what the Big Media is doing. BTW Donna, you don't sound like a woman from Philadelphia, MS. Did you lose the accent when living in New York and Colorado?

I actually did radio for a living for a while and ironed some of it out then. But you know what's funny is that I've gotten so much of it back since I've been home. In fact, someone from AAN called me a couple days ago with a question about the awards, and when I answered, she stopped dead and said something like, "Ooooo, listen to your accent." You'd a thought I was Julia Sugarbaker or somebody. My response: "Well, people here think I sound like a Yankee." That seems to absolutely befuddle her. ;-) MOre than anything, I think I've recaptured my southern phrasing, and the tendency to take way too long to tell a damn story.

Most people who hear me talk wouldn't think I'm from Mississippi if they didn't know I was from here. I was born in Buffalo, but was raised in MS. I took a radio journalism class at USM and it was emphasized how we should use proper diction in pronouncing words. Any little southern accent I had pretty much went out the windown then. ¡Viva la JFP!
