College basketball, get ready for the new year with a state school doubleheader: Mississippi State takes on 2006 Final Four team George Mason (11 a.m., Fairfax, Va., CSS/105.9 FM). Then Ole Miss faces Saint Louis (1 p.m., St. Louis, SportSouth/97.3 FM).

Sunday, Dec. 31
Pro football, Carolina at New Orleans (noon, Ch. 40/620 AM): With nothing at stake, will the Saints bother to win for the 11th time?

Monday, Jan. 1
College football, Southern Cal vs. Michigan in the Rose Bowl (4 p.m., Ch. 16): These two could have been national title contenders. But they lost in their final games of the regular season. New Year's in Pasadena is a nice consolation prize, though.

College football, Wake Forest vs. Louisville in the Orange Bowl (7 p.m., Ch. 40): How did these guys get into a BCS game? Well, Wake Forest did beat Ole Miss.

Wednesday, Jan. 3
College football, LSU vs. Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl (7:15 p.m., Ch. 40): LSU belongs in a BCS game, but this game is mainly about the money.
