A Cut-Eli Reunion In NYC?

0" align=left /> New York Daily News columnist Gary Myers has joined the "Fire Giants coach Tom Coughlin" camp. Myers suggests Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis as the best possible replacement. Myers says that the Giants' problems don't stop at coach. He offers an intriguing solution to QB Eli Manning's problems:

If they keep Coughlin or can't get Weis, who would be a good quarterback coach to bring in for Manning? How about David Cutcliffe, his former head coach at Ole Miss? Cutcliffe is back at Tennessee as offensive coordinator, the same position he held when he tutored Peyton Manning. Eli Manning consulted with Cutcliffe this past offseason to help him work on mistakes he was making.

Coughlin looks like (just from body language) he may be a problem in New York. I waver between Sean Peyton being a genius and a lucky rookie as a head coach, but he certainly does seem to set out not just to beat a team, but to rattle the coach emotionally. It's like he's winning games recently when he knows what buttons to push on the opposing coach. Coughlin looked like he'd been slapped silly after that game on Sunday...maybe because his job is on the line. Meanwhile, Peyton decided to go with my gameplan with Reggie and Deuce combining for 232 yards on the ground -- Drew's numbers would have looked better if some of his receivers could hold onto the ball. Great game though. Now, next week...a little action for Jamie Martin? Aaron Stecker? Fred McAfee? Who Da Say They Gonna Beat Third String?

That team quit on Coughlin. He wore out his welcome in Jville and has worn it out in NY. When your players quit on you, its time to get a new coach.
