With the new school year now in full swing, the youth of the city of Jackson are preparing for yet another "state of emergency" that will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2006. No, this one is not being decreed by the Mayor but Mario Perdue (aka Bip Pap), one of the hiphop artist of DMH Entertainment.

"Our youth are in trouble," says Perdue,29. "This event is to bring awareness to teen violence and other things that affect our community. The youth are our future, and we must be a part of their growth to secure their future."

Big Pap knows first hand about the importance of supporting the youth. A resident of Jackson himself, he has seen the changes that have gone on in the city. Having been involved in the music industry since the early 90's, he has used his songs to reflect the pain and frustrations that he has personally witnessed. He has lived in Mississippi all his life and says he has seen businesses leave and all the city has are empty buildings that could provide places for young people to go and more economic growth. Now a father himself, he and his wife of nine years are ready to be a part of the solution to what is going on in the city.

This has given birth to the "YOUTH STATE OF EMERGENCY BASH 2006" that will take place at Battlefield Park on Saturday, September 16, 2006 from 11-6p.m.. The event will be provide a free concert featuring some of the city's most prolific entertainers as well as information to help encourage the youth. In conjunction with the event, DMH Entertainment has teamed up with Paid 4 Life Entertainment to provide a space jump, cotton candy and sno balls for those who attend. The youth will even be invited to perform during the open-mic segment. For this event you will have to bring your own chairs. Admission is free, however, concession-style food will be for sale with the proceeds being used to cover the cost of the event. Perdue is hoping that the police department as well as the mayor will attend and share tips for the youth to help them live a better life.

The passion that Perdue showed for such an event caught the attention of C. A. Webb, an artist/author/poet in Mississippi who also believes in supporting those who are molding the future. Webb, who is working with the Mississippi's Best Awards (MBA) this year will be there with a vendor table to give out information about the awards dinner. "The MBA's goal is to celebrate the best of the state," says Webb, 31. "We thought that what DMH Entertainment was doing goes hand in hand with our mission."

"In order to deal with the problem, we must offer a solution," Perdue adds. "This is important for our economic growth, social skills and to help teach values. This event will give them a positive outlet and keep them from getting into things they shouldn't."

Got an update from Teri Robinson, Kamikaze's personal assistant, that he will be appearing at the Youth "State of Emergency" Bash and will speak to the youth at 5p.m. in between some of the performances.
