JFP Art Show/Benefit Raises More Than $3,300!

Update: As of right now, the take from the art show last night is coming in over $3,300 for John Grisham's Rebuild the Coast fund, as well as to purchase art supplies for the Arts Alliance "Express Yourself" program.

You can still visit the JFP Art Show at The Cedars (4145 Old Canton Road) during the following hours — as well as purchase art for the cause! Art priced from $20 to $2,500—something for everyone. Free admission.
Sunday, Sept. 11 — 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 13 — 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 15 — 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 16 — 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. — Artist and purchaser pickup day; still open to public for purchase - All payments must be received by this day.

There's some GREAT stuff left, including the painting that the current cover of the JFP is pulled from. So please support local artists, the public schools and help our friends on the Coast at the same time!

_________
Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, 6 p.m. — Attend the first-ever JFP Art Show, one of many events during September to celebrate the JFP's third birthday (Sept. 22!) and kick us into our fourth year as Jackson's alternative news, lifestyle and entertainment newspaper. Many JFP artists and photographers will be on display at The Cedars in Fondren. Eric Stracener and DJ Hova will perform. Free food and drink.

Thanks!

Wine by Barefoot Cellars. Beer by Miller. Food by Red Room Bistro. Many more artists have lined up, including Elizabeth Robinson! I'll post a full list Thursday when I'm back in the office. The party is looking like a good one. Please join us for fun, fellowship and a chance to make a difference. See you there.

$5 suggested donation; $10 to get in on the door prize drawing. Free if you just can't afford the $5.

Another question- This would have never occurred to me to ask, but the girl coming with me wanted to know: what is the appropriate attire for this event?

great turnout, great food, great fun. Although it seemed not many people came prepared to actually buy stuff, too many artist were slashing prices like they were KIA's. Come on people. All in all great event can't wait for next years.

Hey there, it went great! So many people came, the art was great, food, drink, conversation, etc. We're still figuring out how much money we made for Grisham's Save the Coast fund and Express Yourself, and will post that when we know. Also, we had a lot of artwork, and the show will be up until next Friday (including the sold pieces). We're going to decide to time to open it back up for more people who might want to buy art still and couldn't make it last night. I'll post when we know. Also, we can show you the show by appointment over the next week if you're really interested in purchasing art -- we have pieces from $20 up to $2,500, so there's something for everyone.
