Auditor's MBN Probe Supports Few Charges

The Clarion-Ledger reports:

Four Bureau of Narcotics employees targeted in the investigation, Earl Pierce, Jimmy Saxton, Bill Taylor and Ronald Pitts, have sued Melton and a former colleague they believe is one of the bureau's confidential sources. The four accused Melton of making his report available to the news media and the public "for his own personal reasons to settle a personal vendetta."

Melton, a Democratic candidate in the Jackson mayor's race, had no comment Thursday night, citing the pending litigation. He was replaced as head of the MBN after Gov. Haley Barbour took office in 2004.
