JFP Editor Named ‘Leading Mississippi Business Woman'

The Mississippi Business Journal announced this week that Jackson Free Press editor Donna Ladd is one of Mississippi's 50 Leading Business Women for 2005. Along with the other 49 business women from around the state, Ladd will be recognized at a program in August sponsored by Mississippi Economic Council, Southwest Airlilnes, BellSouth, Cellular South and St. Dominic Hospital. She will also be featured in MBJ's special magazine of the winners.

MBJ started the awards program in 1997 to recognize professional women who have made a significant contribution to society and the workplace. Selections are made from a list of women nominated based on: personal and professional accomplishments, and levels of influence. The Mississippi Business Woman of the Year is chosen from the 50 business women.

We will post a full listing of the 50 winners as soon as we have it.

Well deserved, yet somehow ironic that an admitted populist would be named in a "top business" list that is sponsored by some pretty large corporations. Regardless, congratulations Donna on all the work you do and a well desreved award :)

As I always say: Irony is irony, and business is business. ;-) Thanks, guys! It is a great honor to get acknowledged for my entrepreneurial spirit, and in my home state, to boot. To me, there is nothing like mixing creativity and free enterprise.
