Melton Receives Labor Endorsements

(Jackson)?Yesterday on the steps of City Hall Jackson Mayoral candidate Frank Melton received the endorsement of the AFL-CIO union members. The endorsements are from the Central Mississippi Central Labor Council and Central Mississippi Building and Construction Trade Council. "We want to join Frank in a partnership for a new and improved Jackson that we can all be proud of," said David Newell, President of both the Labor and Trade Council.

"The membership was impressed with Frank Melton's leadership and vision for the Capital city, his willingness to address tough issues, and his actions in the community, especially his years of commitment to work with youth in our city as one way to help fight crime in Jackson."

The Central Mississippi Building and Construction Trade Council is comprised of thousands of members who are professional plumbers, electricians, brick layers, laborers, sheet metal workers, operating engineers, carpenters, painters, asbestos workers and others. The Central Mississippi Central Labor Council is also comprised of thousands of members who are professionals in manufacturing, state and city employees, school teachers, firemen and policemen. Both councils voted unanimously in support of Melton.

"I appreciate the support of these professionals and the hard work they do each day," said Jackson Mayoral candidate Frank Melton. "It is their commitment to Jackson that inspires me to be Mayor. I am convinced that together we can make Jackson prosper with safe neighborhoods and communities, increase our economic development opportunities that equates to jobs, and deliver city services that enhance everyone's quality of life."
