Frank Melton's candidacy for mayor is being challenged by members of the Democratic Executive Committee in Jackson.

James Rice and Lavaree Jones, a member of the committee, question Melton's ability to run for office in Jackson. They say by filing for homestead exemption in Texas, Melton should be disqualified. Melton's camp says the challenge is a last ditch effort to disrupt Melton's campaign.
