Men's basketball, ,Jackson State at Mississippi Valley State, 7:30 p.m., WOAD (1300): This clash of early front-runners in Itta Bena could decide who wins the SWAC regular-season title.

Pro football, Super Bowl, Patriots vs. Panthers, 5:25 p.m., Ch. 12: You are helpless to resist watching this broadcast (even the parts that feature Aerosmith). There will be dozens of fascinating and entertaining moments that will be talked and written about for months to come. And between commercials, there should be a pretty good football game to watch, too.

Community college basketball, Meridian at Hinds, women at 6 p.m. and men at 8 p.m.: Mississippi's community college teams play an entertaining brand of basketball, and these two programs are better than most. Remember, Hinds plays hoops in Utica.

College baseball, Prairie View at Jackson State, noon, and Freed-Hardeman at Belhaven, 2 p.m.: Break out the cold weather gear, it's college baseball season.

Men's basketball, Southern U. at Jackson State, 7:30 p.m., WOAD (1300): The Athletics and Assembly Center plays host to a clash of SWAC contenders.

College baseball, Millsaps at Belhaven, 2 p.m.: The neighborhood rivals hook up in Game 1 of the Maloney Trophy Series. Forget that funky trophy, the winning team should get a big-screen TV for the players lounge.
