Note that the Hattiesburg-American wrote an entire non-endorsement without a single actual issue mentioned -- the entire column is based on the performance of the two women during the campaign. This must be the WORST example of horse-race logic I've ever seen. Certainly, it's vital that we examine how they ran their campaigns, but issues (jobs, education, health care) are relevant, too. Now I'm waiting to see if the H-A refuses to endorse in the governor's race (especially Barbour) based on the same horse-race logic -- or do such standards just apply to the women in the race? Lordy be.

WAIT A COTTON-PICKIN' MINUTE: Isn't the Gannett-South paper here using the same logic that Gannett employees have called "sorry" in other instances? That is, you should vote even if you have to "hold your nose"? That voters are apathetic and lazy if they don't figure examine the record and figure out the best option and then vote for it? What about newspapers? Or, if I could offer another theory: The paper couldn't bring itself to endorse Amy Tuck, but realized that the anti-"liberal media" outcry would be deafening if they chose Blackmon. Wonder how many times this will play out on Sunday? Is The Clarion-Ledger going to pull a similar stunt?
