West JXN Gumbo

JJ Townsend is giving local organizations and people a platform through Citizenville, a website that basically acts as a crowd-funding platform for community-based projects. On April 28, the organization held West JXN Gumbo at the Center for Social Entrepreneurship in west Jackson. At the event, guests paid $5 for gumbo, salad, bread and a chance to vote for their favorite community-based project that will benefit west Jackson. The Jackson State University W.E.B. Du Bois M.L.A. Harvey Honors College Debate Team was the winner at the event

During JXN Gumbo events, citizens of the community sign up and pay a donation of $5 to support one of four community projects and organizations.
