Knowledge Camp University held its third annual NBA Spring Break Basketball Camp at the Westside Community Center March 12-16.
The 2018 camp met on Monday, March 12, Wednesday, March 14, Thursday, March 15, and Friday, March 16, at the Westside Community Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for fundamental and skill workouts.
On Tuesday, March 13, 2018, Knowledge Camp University traveled to New Orleans, where they attended the Pelicans v. Hornets NBA basketball game along, with a meet-and-greet with teams before the game.
Jackson native Coach Robert Hopkins is hosting the camp. He says that as a kid, he always wanted to attend camps, but his mother was unable to afford them, so he came up with a strategy to make an affordable camp for kids.
Coach Robert Hopkins says the goal of Knowledge Camp University is to keep the youth and community engaged because of the shortage for activities in Jackson communities.
The NBA basketball camp is divided into three different groups for boy and girls ages 3 to 16.
