Mother's Day is May 8 this year. Here's what's going on in local restaurants.

1908 Provisions (734 Fairview St., 601-948-3429)

1908 Provisions will have a Mother's Day brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu features oysters on the half shell, chilled gulf shrimp, carved roast turkey with gravy, made-to-order omelets, broccoli-and-cheese casserole, bread pudding, Belgian waffles, an ice-cream bar and more. The cost is $32.95 for adults and $15.50 for children ages 5 to 12. Seatings take place on the half hour, and reservations are required.

Anjou Restaurant (361 Township Ave., Ridgeland, 601-707-0587)

For Mother's Day, Anjou Restaurant will serve a special brunch menu from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The restaurant is currently accepting reservations for it.

Babalu Tacos & Tapas (622 Duling Ave., Suite 106, 601-366- 5757, babalutacos.com)

Babalu will have "mamamosas" for Mother's Day weekend, and on Sunday, May 8, the restaurant will have free dessert bites for moms. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

BRAVO! Italian Restaurant and Bar (4500 Interstate 55 N., Suite 244, 601-982-8111)

The restaurant will offer a two-for-one special on all Champagne cocktails as well as a special Champagne cocktail made with Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka and Lillet. BRAVO! will open for brunch at 10 a.m., and stay open until 9 p.m.

Hilton Jackson Hotel and Convention Center (1001 E. County Line Road, 601-957-2800, hiltonjackson.com)

For Mother's Day, Hilton Jackson will have a buffet from 7 to 10 a.m., and a brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a special on Champagne and mimosas.

Old Capitol Inn (226 N. State St., 601-359-9000, oldcapitolinn.com)

Old Capitol Inn will have seatings for brunch in the ballroom at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Seating is limited, and reservations are required. The cost is $30 per adult and $15 per children ages 2 to 12. Call 601-359-9000 to reserve a seat.

Saltine Oyster Bar (622 Duling Ave., Suite 201, 601-982-2899)

Saltine will serve its regular brunch menu from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mother's Day and is taking reservations for it. The menu will include Mother's Day specials, but at press time Saltine had not announced those.

Table 100 (100 Ridge Way, Flowood, 601-420-4202, tableonehundred.com)

Table 100 will serve its jazz brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Raphael Semmes Jazz Ensemble will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The restaurant is open until 9 p.m.

Hilton Garden Inn/The King Edward Hotel (235 W. Capitol St., kingedwardhoteljackson.com)

For Mother's Day, the King Edward will have a brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets for adults are $38, and tickets for children 5 years and older is $17. For reservations, call 601-969-8537.

Two Sisters' Kitchen (707 N. Congress St., 601-353-1180)

Two Sisters' Kitchen will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mother's Day.

Que Sera Sera (2801 N. State St., 601-981-2520)

For Mother's Day, Que Sera Sera will serve its regular brunch menu from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nandy's Candy (1220 E. Northside Drive, Suite 380, 601-362-9553, nandyscandy.com)

For Mother's Day, Nandy's Candy will have treats such as chocolate-covered strawberries, assorted chocolates, truffles, and the word "mom" spelled out in milk or dark chocolate.

La Brioche Patisserie (2906 N. State St., 601-988-2299, labriochems.com)

This holiday, La Brioche's Mother's Day special is a treat with strawberry and blueberry mousses, vanilla cake, a white-chocolate glaze and edible flowers. It is available in all cake sizes. La Brioche is not open on Sundays.

The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen (1200 N. State St., Suite 100, themanshipjackson.com)

The Manship will serve brunch on Mother's Day from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 601-398-4562 to make a reservation.

Broad Street Baking Company (4465 Interstate 55 N., Suite 101, 601-362-2900, broadstbakery.com)

For Mother's Day Broad Street will have sugar-cookie bouquets with mixtures of spring flowers, crosses and gardening-hat cookies, and Mother's Day cinnamon king cakes.

The Strawberry Cafe (107 Depot Drive, 601-856-3822, strawberrycafemadison.com)

On May 8 The Strawberry Cafe will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended, and the restaurant will serve from its brunch and dinner menus.

Primos Cafe (515 Lake Harbour Drive, Ridgeland, 601-898-3600; 2323 Lakeland Drive, Flowood, 601-936-3398; primoscafe.com)

For Mother's Day, Primos locations will make extra goods for their bakery cases. The restaurants are open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sugar Magnolia Takery (5417 Highway 25, Flowood, 601-992-8110)

Sugar Magnolia will have items such as specialty cakes, chocolate-covered strawberries, petit fours and cupcakes for mothers, and patrons can pick up items for a Mother's Day lunch. The bakery will not be open on Mother's Day.

Just Plain Good Cakes, Cheesecakes and Catering (7126 Siwell Road, Bryam, 601-371-1933)

Just Plain Good will have gift certificates to the restaurant for mothers who may not want to cook a lunch for the holiday. Orders for food should be picked up by Friday, and gift certificates should be picked up by Saturday. Just Plain Good will not be open on Mother's Day. The bakery is open Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 to 11 a.m.

Jaco's Tacos (318 S. State St., 601-961-7001, jacostacos.net)

Jaco's will serve brunch on May 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hickory Pit (1491 Canton Mart Road, 601-956-7079)

Hickory Pit will have items such as pies and cakes for sale before Mother's Day. It will not be open that Sunday.

Char Restaurant (4500 Interstate 55 N., Suite 142, 601-956-9562, charrestaurant.com)

Char will serve brunch on Mother's Day. It is currently taking reservations. The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day.

Amerigo Italian Restaurant (6592 Old Canton Road, Ridgeland, 601-977-0563; 155 Market St., Flowood, 601-992-1550; amerigo.net)

Amerigo will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Mother's Day and will serve brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Campbell's Bakery (3013 N. State St., 601-362-4628; 123 Jones St., Madison, 769-300-2790; campbellsbakery.ms)

For Mother's Day, Campbell's will have flower teacakes and flower-decorated petit fours. The bakery is closed on Sundays.

Whole Foods Market (4500 Interstate 55 N., 601-608-0405, wholefoodsmarket.com)

For Mother's Day, Whole Foods has specials on roses, tulips, peonies and sunflowers, and is offering 25 percent off on cosmetics over the Mother's Day weekend. The website also features a collection of recipe recommendations for a homemade Mother's Day brunch, including items such as mango-mint green smoothies, rosemary-bear bellinis, strawberry cream scones, chia pudding and more.

Grant's Kitchen (2847 Lakeland Drive, Flowood, 601-665-4764)

Grant's will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will serve from its regular menu.
