On Thursday, Sept. 3, the Mississippi Museum of Art announced that Mississippi School for the Arts student Noel Quave had been selected to be a part of the "Art.Write.Now.DC" exhibition, which features works from the 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The 80 selected works, all of which received national medals in the 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, will be on display at the U.S. Department of Education and the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.

Teens who demonstrate creative excellence in an array of categories—which include photography, journalism, poetry and video-game design—are recognized in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, which the nonprofit organization Alliance for Young Artists & Writers presents.

In the 2015 program, students submitted more than 300,000 works for regional judging. Notable alumni include Andy Warhol, Ned Vizzini, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote and Zac Posen.

"Each year, the quantity and quality of the artwork produced by Mississippi students continues to grow," Betsy Bradley, director of the Mississippi Museum of Art, said in a press release. "We're privileged to be able to witness this development by hosting The Scholastic Art Awards exhibition."

Quave received a Gold Key and American Visions Medal for her mixed-media work, "The Messiah."

"Art. Write. Now. DC" will also feature literary works chosen from teenage authors throughout the country. The works are also in "The Best Teen Writing of 2015," a student-edited anthology.
