HERE IS A REVIEW OF DESTINY'S CHILD.

"He is a man that begins a company that has tentacles in the worlds of the arts and business.

Introducing Kaleel Yant.

Through DESTINY'S CHILD, you will see the ends and outs of man whose desire for something could cost him everything.

Kaleel Yant is the no-nonsense creative out of Montgomery, AL that finds himself following his dreams as an artist and entrepreneur. His ambitions join him with Catha Ayers, a young woman who sees his vision and vows to help him carry out his plan to lead an artistic revolution in the South. She is attracted to his confidence and search for power, yet finds out too late exactly what he will do to end up on top.

Kaleel Yant's personal and public lives mesh and collide in a series of events that affects the lives of people in Alabama, Mississippi and soon the entire nation.

Set between Alabama and Mississippi, "Destiny's Child" will leave you wondering what is real and what is imaginary in this tale that questions the various degrees of passion and what one will do to experience them all."

Jan2006, thanks, for the kind words. Destiny's Child was a fun write and people have told me that it is a good read as well. It really does much in exposes what truly motivates a man to success and exactly what he would do to achieve his wildest dreams. I am curious if you had a problem with the details of the scene in the excerpt.

I appreciate all of the frank comments about the new novella. I wanted your feedback, and I'm glad you are giving it to me. Some of you have asked why I used the rape scene as the excerpt for the relesae. I did it because it gives you a glimpse into the other side that some consider to be such a genius and role model for so many. Kaleel Yant is a man full of agendas. He tries to love, yet is burdened by the life that he has lived. Though you might respect him for his achievements, you have to wonder what his drive will cost those around him.

No I didn't have a problem with the details. Upon reading that scene it reads like it might be a romantic type novel but it turns out to be nothing like you expect that scene to end. (that is something i look for in novels, i don't like to be able to predict what's going to happen next)

Kaleel Yant is definitely unpredictable. There is such an air of mystery about him. Some will question his motives. Others will feel as though his entire journey is about himself and not the way people are affected by decisions he makes. What I found hard in writing DESTINY'S CHILD was the battle of wills that he experienced. It brought back alot of unresolved issues for myself, and I think I tried to balance my own equations through his character.

It seems through the exceprt that Kaleel Yant has some underlying psychological issues that affect him, though he may not want to admit it. Was this novel easier to write than your first one?

Jan2006, the short answer to your question is no. I put alot of myself in this one, unfortunately. I say unfortunately because as I get older I am having to think of how the way I pursue my goals affects my relationships with others. I am in no way on the level that Kaleel Yant has reached, however, I hold his success as an attainable goal. I just don't want to fall victim to the snares that he becomes involved in. There is a lot going on with him, to say the least. To give you an idea, he loses both parents in an accident after receiving one of his most pretigious awards, his true love abandons him when he needs her most and then a shakeup in his organization leaves him vulnerable. I think I did right by the readers with this one. It's no "Unfinished Business", but it draws rings around my "Masquerade".

Hope you all can make it out to the free taping of the show. We are using New Image Video this season. They are doing a great job for Shadow Play, so we want to keep the relationship going. Also, the music for the show is smooth jazz performer Juewett Bostick from California. The song is "Elsi and Me." You have to check it out.
